The pump pushes the water up into the bio balls basket on the top of the filter, from the bottom of the basket into the fine cotton and activated carbon cotton slots, and finally out from the top. This innovative bottom-up-bottom-up flow ensures water contact with all filter media, providing the best filtration effect. The extra-large filter chamber allows you to add filter media freely.
